The History of Zedora

Zedora was launched by Baltimore filmmaker Brent Bederka who started the agency at the encouragement of a friend. While studying art at Towson University, Brent became good friends with a fellow classmate and artist. They began painting together and eventually took a few film classes together in which they collaborated on several short film projects. They also shared a passion for social causes and political activism, and attended several rallies together in Washington, DC.

After graduation, they continued to paint with each other for many years until Brent’s friend was stricken with terminal cancer. Brent’s friend asked him to record his struggle with cancer in a documentary film. Before passing away, his friend also asked Brent to promise that he would dedicate himself to pursuing filmmaking. Brent went on to producing and directing several short documentaries and remained a community activist.

A Socially Conscious Company

In 2003, Brent launched Zedora, a video production company which initially focused on serving non-profit organizations. Although Zedora has since broadened its clientele, Zedora has remained a socially conscious company. To this day, Zedora donates a considerable amount of in-kind services to non-profit organizations in honor of Brent’s friend. As a result, Zedora has had the privilege in collaborating with some of the largest non-profits in the region. Zedora is also committed to citizen journalism, advocating for social justice, environmentalism, and peace, and recognizing those who give back to the community.

Brent Bederka, Founder & Producer

Brent Bederka is a Baltimore filmmaker. He has been producing film and video and working in the advertising industry for over 20 years. Brent was one of the first to be awarded the prestigious Maryland Distinguished Scholarship in the Arts. He is a graduate of Towson University, where he initially studied as an oil painter. He went on to study journalism, advertising, public relations, and media, which eventually led him to a passion for filmmaking. Brent has produced and directed several documentaries and is currently writing a script for an independent feature film. Brent says that what he enjoys most is telling stories about the lives of people who would otherwise go unnoticed.
